Hi there,

My name is Martijn Roskam (coincidentally the same as this website ). I grew up with my mom, dad, little brother and lots of pets and animals in Hoogland, a little village in the middle of the Netherlands.
Nowadays… I am living still at my parent’s house at the age of 25:p. And that is for two reasons; 1. They are just way too good for me. 2. In this way i can live the cheapest so i can spend my money on my expensive hobby’s of cars, dirt- and supermotobikes and offcourse my digital photo and video passion.

When i completed my study Automotive Engineering at the University of Arnhem and Nijmegen i instantly was working full-time at Reed Business where i’d had a traineeship during my study. At Reed Business i am an editor for “Auto & Motor TECHNIEK“, a (technical) magazine and internet portal for the automotive industry in the Netherlands. Although my official function is editor i also do other things for AMT like, setting up new (micro)website’s, search engine optimize old websites, setting up newsletters, building knowledge communities and lots of other things. January 2007 we even won the Dutch LOF-price for the best business information portal combination between print and online publishing.

Working for AMT is a pleasure for me, but another passion of mine is making video’s and websites (with my favourite open-source CMS WordPress) preferably about spectacular things like motorbikes or race cars. For example, i’ve made a website for motocross shop and -team Buitenhuis Racing where i also help in the shop every tuesday- and thursdaynight. For my local friends in Hoogland i’ve made DePiepers.com. Everything about building and maintaining websites i learned myself, from the tweaking of videoplayers till setting up AdWord campaigns and analyze web statistics for Search Engine Optimization, so i don’t need anybody to put something nice on the web except for hosting on my new own server (except for the gazillion people that help me with their open-source applications… Thanks for that everyone!).

Last year i’ve bought myself a digital camcorder and slowly but surely i got addicted making small videoclips with it. I get inspired by people like Tom Guilmette, Andrew Kramer (for MX that is Tim van Goethem and Mikey Neale) and all the HD guys at vimeo.com.
I am now saving money so i can buy better equipment and software and try to learn a lot from others so that one day i am good enough for setting up my own (part-time) business in (WordPress-based) web-solutions and internet videoclips. In the meantime i must train these competences as often as i can. So if you have any practice cases or things where i can assist please contact me.

UPDATE: I have bought most of the better equipment that i wanted to have so bad and i started my own little company so now you can hire me!
